⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: "Glittering" Goldie O'Gilt
Age: ...Let's just say "Old". She was around during the Klondike gold rush and still kicking in the 80's.
Canon: Ducktales (1987 version)
Canon Point: She has knowledge of major events that would've hit the newspapers through the end of the 1987 Ducktales series but she only actually appeared three times in reality ("Back to the Klondike", the end of "Til Nephews Do Us Part", and "Ducky Mountain High"), once in Scrooge's fever dream ("Scroogerello"), and twice via art (a statuette in "Scrooge's Pet" and a painting in "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. McDuck").

Background:
Goldie's backstory before her time in the Klondike is unknown. However, at some point she made her way to Dawson where she worked alongside a man named Dangerous Dan at the Blackjack Ballroom, their music hall/saloon where the duo fleeced prospectors for their gold. They had a variety of ways to accomplish this including card sharking and even Goldie outright drugging victims. It was there that she met Scrooge McDuck, a poor prospector who would one day become the Richest Man in the World.

When Scrooge came into the Blackjack and showed off a gold nugget he'd dug up, Goldie and Dan pressured Scrooge into playing poker with his gold nugget as the stakes. Predictably, Goldie won through cheating: every card after the other cards had been dealt out was an ace of hearts. While initially Scrooge accepted his loss, he discovered the trick when he turned over the next several cards in the deck and saw how he'd been conned. Goldie hid the nugget in the piano but lost it when Scrooge and Dan tussled and Dan ended up rolling away in the piano, discovering the nugget there. In order to avoid getting arrested, Goldie agreed to work on Scrooge's claim to pay back the debt.

As the pair worked together at White Agony Creek, they grew fond of one another. Originally, they'd intended to leave the claim together, go to Duckburg where Scrooge had bought land sight-unseen, and, presumably, marry. However, their cache of gold was looted the night before they intended to leave. When Scrooge came to the Blackjack Ballroom to tell her of the theft, she was out, and Dan--the one who'd actually taken the gold--claimed she'd skipped town with some money. Scrooge left, heartbroken and betrayed, and Goldie didn't see him again for decades. Given how she believed that Scrooge had left Dawson without her and taken the gold with him, it's very likely that her old partner had tricked her as well. During their time apart, the boom town went bust, and Goldie went to live at White Agony Creek since she had nowhere else to go.

When Scrooge returned decades later with his great-nephews, Goldie attempted to chase him off the property (which he still owned) with shotgun, revolver, and her pet bear, Blackjack. When one of her bullets uncovered a gold deposit by accident, the pair were temporarily united in their joy until Scrooge said that some of her share could be used to pay back the gold she'd stolen years before. Angry and insulted, Goldie stormed off with Blackjack back to town. However, when the train Scrooge and his great-nephews were on was stopped by Dan and a cohort of his in order to rob the ducks of all the bags of gold dust and nuggets they'd found, she charged to the rescue on Blackjack, chasing off her former partner-in-crime.

Goldie declined coming back to Duckburg with Scrooge even when he apologized for accusing her of the original theft (Dan having admitted the truth on the train), but he gave her the deed to White Agony Creek so she could stay. The pair were then parted for quite some time until a brief reunion when Scrooge was looking to marry a younger billionairess: She'd been hidden with her shotgun in the wedding cake and literally chased Scrooge away from the ceremony, firing at him the entire time.

The last (known) time they met, Goldie moved away from the Klondike and uncovered trees on her new land that had been soaking up gold dust through their roots. Despite having likely made up with Scrooge following the failed wedding, Goldie hatched a scheme to not only see her former beau again but to get her hands on some of his land...specifically the portion that had the actual gold deposit. She sent him letters with paper made at the nearby mill which processed the gold trees, the paper containing gold dust in it. While her scheme also accidentally caught Flintheart Glomgold in her net, she accepted Scrooge's deal despite it being (on the surface) worth less than Glomgold's offer. She used Scrooge's affections against him, getting not only $100,003 out of him but also swapping out their parcels of land. Then she sat back and waited, allowing Scrooge to not only confess to attempting to swindle her by not telling her about the gold trees (that she already knew about which should've occurred to Scrooge given she admitted to being a "lumberjill" when he'd first met back up with her) but also to discover the gold deposit that was on the parcel of land that Scrooge had traded her for the trees.

Personality:
As can be expected from someone in love with Scrooge McDuck, Goldie is not only greedy but hard-working, cunning, and at times downright ruthless. She's more than willing to use any cards she has on hand, including her own femininity, to get what she wants. (She'll play men against each other and act like the overwhelmed female when it suits her purposes.) She isn't above dirty tricks; in fact she considers them to be part of the game to begin with, and it's not her fault if her opponent chooses not to use them.

She can nurse a grudge for decades but will take her time with revenge which is by no means petty. It took her months to build up the scheme to lure Scrooge to where the gold trees were in order to swindle him out of his land which held the actual gold deposit, not only getting the satisfaction of outfoxing Scrooge but making a hefty profit at the same time. However, despite her and Scrooge being separated for years, the fastest way to rile her up is for her to learn that someone is putting the moves on her man...even if he hasn't been hers for decades (she blames him for "two-timing" though). Jealousy can send her into an irrational rage where her first impulse is to grab a shotgun.

Of course, she isn't all bad. She seems to have a soft spot for children. Also, despite believing for decades that Scrooge stole their cache of gold and left her proverbially standing at the altar, she was still able to make amends with him and rushed off to help when she realized that Dan was going to steal everything Scrooge and his great-nephews had dug up. She's more than capable of being a sweet old lady; she just doesn't always want to be.

Abilities:
Goldie is, first and foremost, a stage performer. She has a lot of skill in both singing and dancing, often performing both together. She takes her craft very seriously given it was her primary bread-and-butter back during her heyday. For every night on the stage, there are untold hours spent practicing various sets including learning new music and working out accompanying choreography.

She also knows the ins and outs of running a business from her time at the Blackjack Ballroom.

In addition to that, she has a very strong working knowledge of both prospecting and lumber work. As such, she can recognize both trees valuable for their wood and areas where precious metals might be hiding beneath the ground.

While not as strong as her "tougher than the toughies" former beau, Goldie makes up for it with marksmanship skills. Handy with pistol, rifle, and shotgun, Goldie is perfectly capable (and more than willing) to shoot an opponent should the circumstances require it...or if they irritate her enough to make her trigger finger itchy.

Alignment: Elios. Despite her taking pot shots at or swindling Scrooge, she's still very much in love with him. There's also a layer of tragedy to their story given that their mutual pride stopped them from speaking when each had believed the other to be nothing more than a thief in the end.

Other:
Given she's had so little portrayal in the show, I'd like to flesh out some details using the comics. For example, while in the show she played poker to swindle Scrooge out of his nugget, in the original Carl Barks tale (specifically four "lost" pages that were restored in later re-printings), she drugged Scrooge's coffee and then had a bouncer toss him out into the snow miles away which led to Scrooge kidnapping her rather than her agreeing to work his claim. I'm going to be working with Zumi (who plays Scrooge in Emp) to hash out stuff where our characters' past interactions would overlap but hadn't been shown in the show.

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

General Sample: Such a caring person: Willing to throw a bag of ice at an injured Scrooge's head if he annoys her too much.

Emotion Sample: A pair of lovebirds who're too proud to admit to it. Good thing Verens shows it off.

Questions: Can't think of any!
